Following activation of their Automatic Fire Suppression System after a fire on the lathe of their CNC machine, Senior Development Engineer of Armeg Limited contacted Firetrace Limited to resolve as soon as possible.
THE SOLUTION AND OUTCOME
“After experiencing our sliding head lathe rapidly become engulfed with flames, I can only imagine the damage this would potentially have caused to not only the lathe itself but the external surroundings if it was not for our fire suppression system. Thankfully, our lathe was equipped with Fire Traces system which made quick work of the situation, extinguishing the growing flames in under 5 seconds.
I was under the misconception that the suppression system was nothing more than a box ticking exercise and we would never be in the position of solely relying on it. I am now in no doubt as to if it was not for Firetrace, we would have at the very minimum, lost our most expensive machinery we currently own. Further damage after being very likely in my eyes.
Unfortunately, it has taken this act to show me just how important and essential these systems are. I am now aware that a fire can occur in any machinery at any manufacturing facility under the right conditions and could be uncontrollable within the blink of an eye.
On this occasion, the machine survived with negligible damage and that is purely down to Firetrace.
I also find it necessary to mention the service we received when replenishing the system after the fire was second to none. Within 48 hours of the fire striking, our machine was back up and running keeping down time to a minimum. For this, we cannot praise Firetrace enough.”
