This is not the time to slow down our net-zero ambitions
We have seen some signals from politicians, policy makers and some of our more right-wing thinktanks that we must slow down our Net-Zero ambitions. This comes at a time when in Manufacturing, we have accelerated our pace on this journey, to the fastest ever. Indeed, for many manufacturers, given continued high energy costs, it has become a matter of survival. This talk will emphasise that we must, as a manufacturing business community stay focused and do the right thing, and keeping investing in our net-zero journey. In the end we will all reap the benefit, we will reduce our costs at the same time as using less energy, materials, and resources. Technology is a key enabler for this; advanced materials helping us lightweight components; better data allowing us to optimise manufacturing processes and supply chains; creating a more circular economy through life cycle simulation and designing products with a circular mindset. We have a collective responsibility to get this journey to net-zero manufacturing right and our investments in net-zero initiatives will not only benefit our bottom line but also contribute to a healthier planet.
