Case study - Pepsico: cold beverages now even cooler16-Jan-2018 SEELEY INTERNATIONAL EUROPE
Pepsico is a world leader in convenient snacks, foods and beverages with revenues of more than $60 billion and over 285,000 employees.
With temperatures often reaching 30°C - 35°C (86°F-95°F) and sometimes up to 40°C (104°F), Pepsico’s Matutano plant in Lisbon, Portugal, required a cooling solution that not only performed under these conditions, but also met its low energy consumption criteria.
The Lisbon plant was previously air conditioned with conventional chillers. Due to the poor efficiency and cost of operating these units, Matutano sought a highly efficient and cost effective cooling solution. Seeley International’s local distributor, Coolair International, recommended Breezair as the ideal solution and 50 units have been installed on the plant itself.
In addition to meeting Matutano’s original requirements, the benefit of having 100% fresh air cool the plant appealed to Matutano, to ensure the best possible working conditions for staff.
The Lisbon plant is now experiencing internal temperatures of between 22°C (71.6°F) and 25°C (77°F), and its factories in Italy and Romania have also installed Breezair.
